Description

The Foundation Life in Old Age supports non-profit organizations and public institutions in North Rhine-Westphalia that are dedicated to residential elderly care within the AWO district of Western Westphalia. With an award granted every three years amounting to €3,000, particularly innovative and needs-oriented approaches are recognized. Funded are model projects such as sensory gardens for people with dementia, snoezelen rooms, novel senior centers, as well as research initiatives aimed at improving care quality. In individual cases, the foundation also supports needy residents suffering from old-age poverty or unable to finance participation. The continuous allocation of grants enables flexible responses to social and health challenges in elderly care.

Eligible to participate are non-profit or public sponsors based in the districts of Siegen-Wittgenstein, Olpe, or the Western Westphalia area. Funding covers expenses for material costs, infrastructure measures, and project personnel costs. Selection is based on the criteria of innovativeness, orientation to the needs of older people, as well as sustainability and feasibility. Submissions must include a project description with objectives, a detailed cost and financing plan, and proof of non-profit status. Applications can be submitted at any time, as the deadline is continuously open. Through the awarding of individual grants and the implementation of forward-looking concepts, the foundation makes a valuable contribution to the dignity and participation of older people in residential care facilities.
