Description

Funding by the Weltkirche Foundation is aimed at non-profit organizations, foundations, and public institutions in Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate that implement church-related mission, development, and peace work within the Diocese of Mainz. Grants support both idealistic objectives and material project costs, for example in the areas of development cooperation, agriculture, and rural development. Applications can be submitted continuously at any time: an informal written application including a project concept is sufficient to present the proposal for review. The decision criteria include the prospects of success, the cost-effectiveness of fund usage, and secured overall financing. A prerequisite is sponsorship of church-related mission, peace, and development activities with demonstrated proper management.

The target group comprises project managers who can demonstrate that their activities are carried out appropriately and professionally in accordance with the statutes. The Foundation places great importance on minimizing bureaucratic hurdles but requires written proof of fund usage as well as a final report on the use of funds. Only measures whose objectives are compatible with the principles of the Catholic Church are eligible for funding. Upon approval, a written notice regulates the earmarking of funds, project duration, and accounting modalities. This ensures that local initiatives have a sustainable impact and contribute in the long term to peace, justice, and sustainable development.
