Description

The Takaya Urakawa Foundation supports emerging musicians nationwide during their studies and the early phase of their solo careers through financial grants of up to €5,000 annually. As a non-profit organization, it has been promoting international projects since its founding in 2017 in the fields of music, culture, education, training and further education, as well as culture & media. The aim of the funding is to recognize exceptional musical talents and reduce financial barriers so that talented solo and orchestral musicians can fully realize their potential. Eligible applicants are individuals studying at state-recognized educational institutions or renowned private establishments who can provide proof of special musical aptitude (e.g., score excerpts, competition results, letters of recommendation) as well as evidence of financial need. The approved grant is valid for a funding period of up to twelve months and can be used for tuition fees, instrument purchase or rental, as well as living expenses.

The continuous funding process allows for year-round application submission. Required for submission are a cover letter, CV, a detailed breakdown of costs, and proof of intended use of the requested funding amount. Reference reports and letters of recommendation from instructors or professional musicians complete the application. Selection is based on musical talent and achievement, the quality of the educational institution, and proof of financial need. Scholarship recipients commit to using the funds for the intended purpose and reporting on the project’s progress. Through transparent reporting and acknowledgment of the Foundation in all project-related publications, the Takaya Urakawa Foundation contributes to sustainably strengthening the artistic development of young musicians.
