Description

The nationwide ÜLU funding is a grant program in the field of vocational training and further education that supports training companies, educational institutions, and inter-company vocational training centers in the crafts sector with the partial financing of inter-company apprentice instruction. The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) provides funds that cover the costs for modules in around 600 vocational training centers and offer apprentices practical in-depth learning. This funding significantly contributes to ensuring a uniformly high training standard, strengthening quality assurance in dual vocational training, and securing knowledge transfer in specialized craft sectors. Thus, the program makes a decisive contribution to securing skilled workers and the sustainable development of young talent in regional companies.

Eligible to apply are registered training companies and inter-company vocational training centers throughout the federal territory, with small craft businesses particularly benefiting from the financial relief. All participant-related expenses of the ÜLU are eligible for funding, including course fees and material costs. A prerequisite for the grant is the timely submission of the application by October 1st of each year to the respective Chamber of Crafts. In modules lasting from one to several weeks, inter-company professional qualifications are imparted that open up specialization opportunities for companies and provide apprentices with production-unit-independent competencies. The regional Chambers of Crafts handle the administrative processing, while the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) ensures programmatic support and advisory services. This measure covers topics such as electromobility, climate and environmental protection, or digital manufacturing processes to prepare for future challenges in the crafts sector and sustainably promote competitiveness.
