Funding of the CONSUMER INITIATIVE FOUNDATION

Since 2002, the VERBRAUCHER AN-STIFTUNG has been supporting forward-looking projects in Bremen and the surrounding area that promote the regional, ecological food cycle. As a grant provider, it targets non-profit organizations, businesses, and private individuals based in the region. Initiatives are funded in the areas of agriculture & rural development, environmental/nature conservation, regional promotion, as well as energy efficiency & climate protection. The focus is on consumer- and agricultural policy alternatives that concretely implement ecological behavior in the cultivation, processing, and consumption of food. Through education and awareness-raising, socially and environmentally responsible purchasing behavior is strengthened, and the importance of sustainable consumption in the local environment is highlighted.

Project sponsors benefit from ongoing application opportunities, as there are no fixed deadlines and funding is provided year-round. The foundation places special emphasis on proactive initiatives such as regional direct marketing, organic farming, and environmentally friendly processing techniques. Submitting groups range from consumer initiatives to agricultural enterprises and civil society associations. A prerequisite for funding is a clearly defined location in Bremen or its immediate surroundings. Through its commitment, the foundation contributes to establishing sustainable supply structures and advancing consumption-critical actions – because only regionally practiced “organic” unfolds its full ecological impact.
