Description
The Wacken Foundation, a non-profit foundation under civil law based in Schleswig-Holstein, is committed to supporting artists, bands, and other stakeholders in the hard rock and heavy metal scene. Nationwide, it authorizes private individuals and companies to apply for grants of up to EUR 5,000 per project. The focus is on concert and tour projects, CD and video productions, merchandise acquisitions, technical equipment, travel expenses, workshops, and music education. Funding is generally provided as a grant, interest-free loan, or a combination of both. The project duration is up to 12 months, with a funding rate of 100%. Applications are reviewed several times a year by an independent advisory board; urgent tour applications are possible if needed.
Only stakeholders based in Germany who are active in the hard rock or heavy metal sector are eligible for funding. If a cooperation with distribution partners already exists, the application amount may account for up to 40% of the total project costs. To apply, the fully completed form, which is available at any time, must be submitted. Decision periods depend on the receipt of documents; funds are usually disbursed within one month after a positive decision. Upon completion of the project, recipients are obliged to submit documentation and appropriate evidence and to acknowledge the support by incorporating the “Supported by Wacken Foundation” logo. The Wacken Foundation thus offers ambitious musicians and organizers a straightforward opportunity to realize ambitious projects and sustainably strengthen the scene.
