Funding of the Welker Foundation

The Welker Foundation continuously supports pioneering projects in North Rhine-Westphalia in the fields of science, education and training, as well as social initiatives. With a clear focus on talent promotion and strengthening young researchers, both doctoral scholarships and accompanying support measures are funded. Furthermore, innovative school and training projects as well as the development of new degree programs at universities are financially supported. Another focus lies on research projects concerning societal values, religious education, and the structure and significance of the family. The foundation sees itself as a catalyst for research and innovation, whose results make a sustainable contribution to prosperity and social justice.

Eligible for funding are educational institutions, non-profit organizations, and public agencies, particularly in the areas of child and youth welfare, integration, and social projects. Schools and universities developing new teaching and learning formats also benefit from the Welker Foundation’s grants. Funding is awarded without fixed deadlines, allowing applicants to apply for support at any time. Through continuous support of both scientific institutions such as the NRW School of Governance and social facilities like inclusive daycare centers or family support centers, the foundation contributes sustainably to the advancement of education and social participation. Interested institutions can easily submit their project ideas and thus make an important contribution to strengthening research, education, and social services.
