The Zempelin Foundation is dedicated to nationwide support of science and education, with a focus on pioneering research projects in the fields of climate, environment, and biodiversity. Eligible for funding are both educational institutions and private individuals. With a total funding volume of up to €50,000, it supports early-career researchers engaged in transformative research and implements innovative conservation projects. Within the framework of the prestigious “Transformative Science” research award, excellent studies at the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment, and Energy are honored, while the TrafoNa program specifically accompanies doctoral candidates and organizes an annual doctoral researchers’ day. The commitment is complemented by a doctoral scholarship for a practice-oriented conservation project on Galapagos (Floreana), carried out in cooperation with universities in Würzburg, Koblenz-Landau, New Zealand, and Ecuador.

The foundation is particularly aimed at early-career researchers who wish to advance sustainable solutions in environmental and climate protection, as well as university collaborations in the field of species conservation. Applications can be submitted on an ongoing basis, ensuring flexible planning of scientific and practice-related projects.
