Funding of the World Federation of Austrians Abroad (AÖWB)

The funding of the World Federation of Austrians Abroad (AÖWB) provides continuous financial support for the umbrella organization of Austrians living abroad. The aim is to strengthen information dissemination and representation of this community at the global level. As a non-profit interest group, the AÖWB is subject to the provisions of the General Framework Guidelines (ARR) and receives grants in accordance with the applicable fiscal authorization. Applications can be submitted at any time, ensuring flexible planning and implementation of service and representation offerings. The funding particularly covers projects in the areas of migration as well as labor & social affairs and enables the federation to further expand its local service organization.

The AÖWB serves as a central contact point for Austrian associations abroad and their members, undertaking tasks ranging from information provision to advocacy towards Austrian institutions. Only non-profit associations or interest groups operating under the ARR guidelines are eligible for funding. Through direct allocation, the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, Department VI.3 – Budget Affairs and Controlling, makes a significant contribution to strengthening the Austrian network abroad. The open deadline structure supports sustainable and needs-based use of funds to promote social cohesion and the cultural identity of Austrian communities worldwide.
