Description
In Baden-Württemberg, the VwV Municipal Sports Facility Funding supports the construction and renovation of municipal gymnasiums and sports halls as well as outdoor sports facilities for school and club use. Municipal sponsors, including municipalities, municipal administrative associations, districts, school associations, and municipally owned companies, receive a grant ranging from 30% to 70% of the standardized eligible expenses. The goal is to establish and maintain versatile sports facilities that promote both school sports and the organized training and competition activities of sports clubs and associations. Applications must be submitted by December 31 of the preceding year via the respective supervisory authority to the competent regional council.
A prerequisite for approval is proof of public need and the assurance of versatile sports use regarding construction, dimensions, and equipment. Furthermore, building regulations, generally accepted technical standards, as well as safety and hygiene requirements must be observed, and binding periods must be adhered to. Eligible expenses include costs for the construction and renovation of gymnasiums and sports halls as well as outdoor facilities; swimming pools, special facilities (e.g., tennis or ice sports), and facilities without a direct sports purpose (e.g., parking lots, spectator stands) are excluded. The application requires, among other documents, the application form according to VwV, a cost calculation according to DIN 276 Part 2, a financing plan, construction plan draft, construction schedule, proof of public need, and the municipal council’s resolution. This clear funding structure enables sustainable and future-oriented development of municipal sports infrastructure.
