Funding objective
The funding of appropriate measures aims to make a significant contribution to the preservation and development of fisheries in Brandenburg. In particular, measures to preserve and improve the habitats of fish, to develop fish stocks, to investigate the living and environmental conditions of fish, to prevent fish diseases, to provide training and further education in fishery water management, as well as to support information and public relations work, will be funded.

Description
Effective measures for the conservation and development of fisheries are funded from the fisheries levy in Brandenburg. Priority is given to projects that sustainably secure and improve the livelihoods of native fish stocks: from stocking measures through stock regulation and monitoring to scientific investigations of environmental conditions and fish diseases. Fisheries training and further education, information and public relations work, as well as the establishment of model and teaching enterprises, are also eligible projects. The goal is to strengthen biological diversity in water bodies through targeted measures, optimize reproductive conditions, and ecologically control invasive species.
Eligible applicants are natural persons, companies, non-profit organizations, and public institutions with fisheries projects in Brandenburg. The grant can cover up to 90% of eligible expenses. Funding is provided, among other things, for personnel and material costs, fish stocking and removal procedures, water body assessment, scientific research, operational facilities, as well as information and training costs. Exclusion criteria include mandatory construction measures and aquaculture production projects. The formal application, including a cost and financing plan, must be submitted by April 30 of each year to the State Office for Rural Development, Agriculture and Land Consolidation (LELF). Further requirements include proof of fisheries interest, a project start date after the application submission, and complete application documents such as an extract from the register, annual financial statements, and water body overviews. The guideline is valid until December 31, 2027, ensuring structured funding to strengthen fisheries in Brandenburg.
