Description
Since January 2, 2023, the Federal Ministry of Finance has been providing an annual grant of up to 30 million euros to secure the ongoing operation of the Institute for Advanced Studies and Scientific Research (IHS) in Vienna on a long-term basis. The funding is exclusively aimed at non-profit, public institutions and requires the timely submission of a complete application, which must include the financial plan, auditor’s report, annual report, and gender report. Although there is no fixed application deadline, the funding application must be submitted to the responsible department before the start of each funding period.
The funds support first-class economic and social science research, qualify early-career researchers at the doctoral and postdoctoral levels, and maintain a publicly accessible specialized library. Furthermore, the funding includes the preparation of scientific findings in media-effective formats to make results accessible to a broad public. Disbursement is made quarterly upon request and is strictly tied to comprehensive reporting obligations, thereby ensuring sustainable budget control and continuous evaluation of goal achievement.
