Description

The cultural funding for film and audiovisual media in Thuringia supports a diverse range of non-commercial projects with a clear connection to the Free State. Applicants from public institutions, companies, foundations, associations, educational institutions, or private individuals can apply for grants for the development of treatments, screenplays, and innovative technologies. Furthermore, the funding includes the production and post-production of audiovisual works as well as the rental, distribution, and presentation of film content. Another focus lies on film and media education measures as well as further training offerings that strengthen media literacy and profile Thuringia as a media location. The goal is to sustainably network creatives, experts, and institutions and to make the local cultural film production visible.

Eligible for funding are natural and legal persons with a registered office or residence in Thuringia or with a verifiable focus of their realization in the state. A personal contribution of at least 30% of the eligible expenses and secured overall financing are prerequisites, as well as compliance with content requirements (no youth-endangering, pornographic, racist, or glorifying violence content). A maximum of two applications per funding area may be submitted per calendar year; exceptions apply for final projects at Thuringian universities. Cross-state projects are permitted if at least 50% of the expenses are incurred in Thuringia or Germany. Applications must be submitted before the project start – the deadlines are March 15 and October 15 of each year. In this way, the program of the Thuringian State Chancellery contributes to expanding the Free State as a vibrant media location and sustainably promoting cultural film projects.
