Promotion of Sports Facility Construction

In the state of Upper Austria, a permanently available grant program supports non-profit sports clubs in the modernization and redesign of their sports facilities in the areas of sports, infrastructure, culture & media, as well as urban development. With a focus on renovation, expansion, and new construction, optimal conditions are to be created for recreational and competitive sports as well as cultural events. Financial support is based on verified construction, expansion, and renovation costs. Applications can be submitted continuously before the start of construction, allowing flexible scheduling in line with project planning. Large construction projects are additionally accompanied by a professional assessment from the Austrian Institute for School and Sports Facility Construction (ÖISS) as well as a review by the Upper Austrian State Sports Directorate. Since June 20, 2013, this instrument has been available as a permanent measure at the Office of the Upper Austrian State Government, Directorate for Culture and Society – Department of Society.

Approval requires secured overall financing and is granted following a successful professional review. The submission of the following documents is essential: application form, financing plan, board resolution of the club regarding the planned measure, as well as cost estimates. Proper use of funds is finally demonstrated through a final accounting including invoices and payment confirmations. The program is based on the sports funding guidelines of the state of Upper Austria and grants direct subsidies on the basis of a transparent allocation procedure. Interested parties receive detailed information on funding guidelines, requirements, and application documents directly from the State Sports Directorate or via the transparency database. This credo creates a reliable foundation for sustainable investments in the region’s sports infrastructure.
