Description
In the Free State of Thuringia, municipal and non-profit organizations in the fields of sports, infrastructure, and urban development are supported with a grant covering 60 to 100% of eligible expenses to construct, convert, modernize, or renovate demand- and DIN-compliant sports facilities – including elite sports venues. Eligible for funding are public institutions, legal entities with municipal participation (> 50%), sports organizations recognized as worthy of support, as well as other independent sponsors; sports facility development plans can be applied for by districts and independent cities. Grants of up to €50,000 per project are possible. A central requirement includes, among other things, proof of a sports-specific need, compliance with legal planning principles as well as DIN and European standards, and accessibility for people with disabilities.
Applications are submitted annually by July 1st to the responsible district or via the Thuringian State Sports Association as the first stage of the two-step procedure: following a positive evaluation, an invitation to submit a full application to the Thuringian Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports follows. Eligible expenses include new construction, expansion, conversion, modernization, and renovation of public sports facilities as well as the preparation of external sports facility development plans. Commercially operated sports facilities or measures started before the approval notice are not eligible for funding. Submission must include, among other documents, the completed registration form, proof of sports-specific need, a cost estimate according to DIN 276, proof of accessibility, and an excerpt from the land register or a long-term usage contract.
