Description
The funding provided by the Werner and Anita Otto Family Foundation at Stolzenhagener Lake aims to permanently secure the ecological condition of this unique body of water in Brandenburg. As the first German lake foundation, the non-profit foundation has been committed since 2017 to the protection of shoreline zones, fauna and flora, as well as to the optimization of water quality. Measures in the fields of nature conservation, landscape management, and environmental education are supported, as well as scientific research and pilot projects for water purification and waterbody restoration. Pilot studies on depth profiles, online-recorded measurements of water temperature and water level, as well as environmental education programs are supported through grants to establish sustainable waterbody management in the long term and to preserve Stolzenhagener Lake as a defining natural element.
Interested initiatives, associations, environmental and climate protection organizations, educational institutions, research facilities, municipalities, companies, private individuals, and lakeside residents are invited to apply. The foundation continuously awards grants for projects presenting practical concepts to reduce nutrient inputs, restore reed zones, or offer innovative environmental education programs. Technological approaches to water purification and measures to adapt to climatic changes are also considered. Applications can be submitted at any time; continuous review ensures prompt decisions. In doing so, the Werner and Anita Otto Family Foundation not only promotes the preservation of Stolzenhagener Lake but also strengthens the commitment of diverse stakeholders to a livable natural region.
