Description
The Volker Nechleba Foundation supports the theology of Christian spirituality at the University of Regensburg in Bavaria through earmarked grants. The focus of the funding is the preparation of a digital new edition of the works of Johann Michael Sailer, who profoundly influenced spiritual theology in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. In addition, academic events in the field of Christian spirituality are supported, provided that the organization and responsibility are under the leadership of a professor of Catholic Theology at the University of Regensburg. In this way, students and researchers are given contemporary access to Sailer's intellectual heritage, and interdisciplinary exchange within the theological context is promoted.
Funding is exclusively granted to students of the University of Regensburg, regardless of their denomination, who are actively involved in digital edition projects or in the implementation of subject-specific events. Applications may only be submitted by a professor of the Faculty of Catholic Theology. When submitting an application, the type, time, and place of the event, schedule, participant data (names, addresses, matriculation numbers, bank details), as well as the anticipated costs per person must be specified. Funds are awarded on an ongoing basis and are exclusively available to non-profit public institutions. Thus, the support makes a valuable contribution to science, education, and further training in Christian spirituality.
