The funding program to support sustainable, innovative, and future-proof local public transport in Thuringia offers a significant opportunity to align public transport (ÖPNV) with low-emission technologies for the future. By providing grants covering between 60% and 70% of eligible expenses depending on the measure, projects in various areas are supported: from feasibility studies and mobility concepts to the acquisition and conversion of vehicles as well as the development of modern refueling and charging infrastructure. Public institutions, transport companies, and enterprises operating within the framework of public services can participate in the funding, provided they demonstrate a coherent financing concept and compliance with all relevant criteria.
The program focuses on reducing climate-damaging emissions, decreasing air pollutants, and mitigating noise emissions, thereby making an effective contribution to environmental and climate protection. The use of renewable energies for the infrastructures must be demonstrated, while ensuring the economic viability of the project. Additionally, innovative model projects testing alternative technical propulsion solutions in road and rail transport are also supported.
