Description
The funding program of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg supports the low-interest new construction of affordable housing for students and trainees and will start on 01.01.2025. At its core is a long-term loan from the Hamburg Investment and Development Bank (IFB Hamburg), which is linked to a 20-year rent and occupancy commitment. The goal is to create new housing in Hamburg that meets energy-efficient standards and contributes to climate-friendly urban development. Projects that also integrate aspects of energy efficiency & renewable energies, housing construction & modernization, climate protection, as well as infrastructure and urban development are eligible for funding. The continuous application option enables flexible planning and implementation of construction projects – from the concept phase to construction readiness.
Eligible applicants include both private and commercial owners and leasehold holders who specifically intend to build residential buildings for young people. A prerequisite is the verifiable new construction of apartments in accordance with the funding guidelines. In addition to attractive interest rates, applicants benefit from comprehensive advice provided by IFB Hamburg. Combining this with other funding programs, such as EU-funded initiatives and KfW programs, increases economic viability. The fixed rent and occupancy commitment ensures that the apartments remain permanently available for students and trainees and make a lasting contribution to meeting the housing demand in Hamburg.
