Description

The nationwide funding of the six regional Mittelstand-Digital Centers aims to provide small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with practical, vendor-neutral information, qualification, and implementation services in the areas of digitization, AI readiness, as well as IT and cybersecurity. Each center covers two to three clearly defined federal states and maintains physical contact points with fixed opening hours, mobile and digital meeting places, and demonstration areas. In close cooperation with chambers, associations, and other public funding programs, the local consortia provide competent AI trainers and CYBERsecure trainers, support company practice projects, and document good practice use cases. Through coordinated networking within the Mittelstand-Digital network and continuous exchange with the Cybersecurity Transfer Office, synergies are created that sustainably strengthen the digital transformation and IT resilience of SMEs.

The grant covers personnel, material, travel, as well as event and infrastructure costs with a funding rate of 100%. Educational institutions, associations, research institutions, universities, and non-profit organizations can submit applications as consortium leaders and partners. The two-stage procedure includes a sketch phase until March 31, 2026, via the PT-Outline portal and a subsequent application submission in the easy online system. With a project duration of up to 48 months and clearly defined evaluation criteria such as regional needs analysis, quality of the networking concept, and economic efficiency, it is ensured that the centers provide tailored support locally and thus sustainably increase the competitiveness of the Mittelstand nationwide.
