Description
The annual funding in the field of folk culture by the Federal Ministry for Housing, Arts, Culture, Media and Sport supports umbrella organizations of Austrian folk culture active in Vienna with a budget of €550,000 per year. Measures to secure and further develop the infrastructure as well as projects of the Federation of Austrian Costume and Homeland Associations, the Federal Working Group of Austrian Folk Dance, the Austrian Choir Association, the Austrian Workers' Singing Association, the Austrian Brass Music Association, the Austrian Federal Association for Amateur Theatre, the Austrian Folk Song Institute, the Association of Amateur Musicians and Clubs of Austria, and the International Organization for Folk Art – Austria are funded. Eligible to apply are folk cultural federal associations with regional organizations in at least five federal states, representing nationwide folk culture and meeting the guidelines of the Adult Education Funding Act. The type of funding is a non-repayable grant and is available indefinitely, with submissions generally taking place annually between November 1 and 30.
The program aims to create sustainable framework conditions for local and supraregional folk culture and to promote contemporary development approaches. The financial grant enables the umbrella organizations to implement cultural tradition preservation, artistic foundational work, and networking projects, as well as to modernize clubhouses and rehearsal rooms. The Arts and Culture Section of the responsible Federal Ministry accompanies the funding process from application to accounting and provides the necessary forms on the transparency portal. The program invites all eligible institutions to contribute to the lively shaping and contemporary further development of Austrian folk culture.
