Description
The “Funding in connection with the UNESCO World Heritage Convention” supports regional and supra-regional special projects in Vienna dedicated to the protection, dissemination, and sustainable preservation of cultural and natural assets of outstanding universal value. Applicants may be natural or legal persons – including companies registered in the commercial register, interest groups, foundations, associations, or public institutions. In particular, owners of monuments and persons who commission professional services in monument preservation are eligible to apply. Direct grants are awarded within the framework of measures that integrate the World Heritage into public life (lit. a), scientific-technical investigations and research against threats to the World Heritage (lit. c), preservation of inventory and values (lit. d), as well as training and research promotion in the field of World Heritage protection (lit. e).
With the aim of effectively implementing the UNESCO World Heritage Convention, the Arts and Culture Section of the Federal Ministry funds time-limited projects with a total volume of up to EUR 0.9 million. Applications may be submitted continuously and are open until revoked. Applicants must submit a detailed project and financing plan together with the fully completed application form. Accounting is carried out after notification of the approval decision by submitting balanced original receipts. Project ideas for integrating World Heritage into overarching planning or for addressing specific threat scenarios are equally considered and provide a forum for innovative research approaches and practice-oriented monument preservation measures.
