Description
Within the framework of the National Bioeconomy Strategy, the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space supports international collaborative projects aimed at data-driven solutions for sustainable and resilient agriculture. With the co-financed EU partnership "Agriculture of Data," digital technologies combined with environmental and agricultural data are to be developed and applied to make production systems more efficient, adaptable to climate change, and environmentally friendly. Projects with at least three partners from three different countries, working together to achieve innovative results within 36 months, are eligible for funding. Thematic priorities include FAIR data management, AI-based modeling, and the development of user-oriented applications for decision support in the agricultural sector.
Eligible applicants are universities, non-university research institutions, state and federal agencies, as well as small and medium-sized enterprises with headquarters or operations in Germany. Eligible costs include personnel, investment and consumables, business travel, expenses for intellectual property applications, and contract awards. The total funding amount is up to €400,000 per consortium, and up to €500,000 for the consortium coordinator. The decisive criteria are the degree of innovation, international cooperation, relevance to the bioeconomy, and sustainability impact. Interested consortia should submit a concept note by January 21, 2026, 12:00 PM CET; full applications may follow by July 21, 2026, 12:00 PM CEST. Project submissions are to be made exclusively via the AgData submission portal, where all required templates are also available.
