Description
The Lower Saxony Foundation supports innovative exhibition and digitization projects in Lower Saxony through the Project Funding for Art & Museums. Funding is provided for permanent and special exhibitions, educational concepts, as well as professionally curated art projects and festivals – especially in the fields of media art and artistic photography. The aim is to strengthen museums, art associations, and professionally organized art festivals as attractive cultural venues and to implement diverse access opportunities for different target groups. Particular attention is paid to ecological and social sustainability, for which the evaluation of the digital checklist on Ecological Sustainability must be submitted as proof.
Eligible to apply are non-profit organizations based in Lower Saxony that submit a current tax exemption certificate along with a detailed cost and financing plan and a concise project description. Only project-related expenses are supported; non-eligible costs include, among others, monument preservation measures, gap financing, publications unrelated to the project, as well as projects run by volunteer-led institutions or school sponsors. The amount of the grant depends on the financing needs and is decided by the Secretary General, the Administrative Board, or the Senate of the Foundation. Applications can be submitted online year-round; interested parties can find the applicable deadlines in the decision dates of the committees. Selection criteria include, in particular, the quality and relevance of the project, sustainability aspects, and the educational concept.
