Description
The Bavarian State Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection supports non-commercial repair initiatives in Bavaria with a grant program to promote Repair Cafés and similar projects. The goal is to extend the lifespan of everyday items, conserve resources, and sustainably reduce waste volumes. With the continuous submission option, committed citizens, volunteers, and associations throughout Bavaria can flexibly submit applications, thereby strengthening civic engagement locally. The funding focus is on environmental and climate protection, energy efficiency, as well as education for sustainable development to achieve broad societal impact.
Funding covers, among other things, material costs, training and further education expenses, as well as rental costs for event spaces or public relations measures. A prerequisite is the non-commercial nature of the initiative, a location or regular activity in Bavaria, and personal contribution through voluntary engagement. Purchases of permanent operating equipment, personnel costs for full-time positions, and general administrative expenses are not eligible for funding. Evaluation is based on sustainability, resource conservation, societal impact, and the extent of voluntary commitment. Applications must include a project description, cost and financing plan, and – if available – proof of non-profit status. Applications can be submitted continuously until the allocated funds are exhausted, providing initiatives with timely planning security.
