Description
Funding "Regional Waste Prevention Concepts"
With the initiative "Regional Waste Prevention Concepts," the State of Lower Austria specifically supports municipalities and regions in the initial development of regional waste prevention concepts and the implementation of at least one effective prevention measure. A one-time grant of 1,500 euros per applicant contributes to sustainably reducing waste volumes, conserving resources, and strengthening climate protection activities. Both personnel and material costs are eligible for funding; retroactive expenses and debt settlements are excluded. The quality of the concept, the feasibility of the measure, and the potential for waste reduction constitute the central evaluation criteria.
Eligible Applicants and Application Procedure
Eligible to apply are public institutions, namely municipalities, municipal associations, and regions in Lower Austria (in particular KEM regions). A prerequisite for funding is that a corresponding application is submitted to the Office of the Lower Austrian State Government, Department of Environment and Energy Management, before the project begins. Based on the guidelines and templates provided by the Environment Agency Austria, the completed concept must be published and at least one funded waste prevention measure must be implemented. Applications can be submitted continuously from March 1, 2025; there is no specified deadline for submission. The lump-sum grant amounting to 100% of eligible costs will be paid out after submission of the final concept along with a brief report including photo documentation.
