Description
The Free State of Bavaria supports state-recognized environmental centers with an annual grant of up to €30,000 per institution. The funds are intended to support extracurricular educational work in the field of education for sustainable development and environmental education (ESD/EE), which could not be realized or not to a sufficient extent without public funding. Eligible for funding are legal entities with headquarters and business operations in Bavaria – for example, municipalities, church organizations, or non-profit organizations – that can demonstrate a comprehensive educational concept and offer a continuous, publicly accessible program. Applications can be submitted by October 1 each year for the following calendar year.
Non-commercial expenses for the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of educational events as well as necessary organizational and administrative costs are funded. A prerequisite is alignment with the guiding principles of ESD, a broad variety of topics, and as barrier-free access as possible to all offerings. Exclusion criteria include ideologically driven institutions such as Scientology or comparable organizations. To apply, the official form (FöR-UmwSt), an expenditure and financing plan, the annual work program, and a usage confirmation must be submitted. With this program, environmental centers receive plannable resources to strengthen sustainable competencies and support participants on the path to a future-oriented transformation.
