Description

The Berlin Donation Parliament, an initiative of the dragondreams Foundation, is aimed at non-profit social institutions, educational institutions, interest groups, and associations based in Berlin. The focus is on small-scale projects in the children and youth sector that promote education, social skills, culture, creative leisure activities, and integration. In biannual parliamentary sessions – held in the 2nd and 4th quarters – the parliamentarians decide on the allocation of grants from the raised donations based on democratic voting. Personnel and fixed costs as well as individuals are excluded; only material, equipment, and program costs for measures of up to €1,200 per application are funded.

Eligible for funding are Berlin-based initiatives and projects with a clearly defined small project character in the children and youth sector. Funding requirements include non-profit status, proof of project relevance, and the exclusion of individual beneficiaries. Interested organizations submit a formally completed funding application and a membership declaration and may submit applications at any time. The democratic decision-making by the parliamentarians ensures transparency and participation in the allocation of funds. Numerous previously funded projects – from school libraries to learning workshops to integration workshops – illustrate the diversity of supported initiatives. The Berlin Donation Parliament thus offers a straightforward way to sustainably strengthen social and cultural offerings for children and youth in Berlin.
