Description
The Federal Ministry of the Interior and for Homeland (BMI) supports construction measures for the establishment and modernization of elite sports facilities throughout Germany through the Sports Facility Construction Funding Guidelines (FR Bau). Recognized institutions such as Olympic training centers, federal performance centers, federal training centers, as well as specialized institutes for research, development, and applied training science are eligible for funding. The grant is provided as a non-repayable subsidy for the pure construction costs and can – depending on the institution and prioritization of Olympic or Paralympic sports – cover up to 100% of the eligible expenses. A prerequisite is co-financing by federal states or municipalities to a reasonable extent as well as the full securing of overall financing. Furthermore, the measure must fit into existing funding concepts and structures of elite sports and meet a local or sport-specific need.
Eligible applicants are public institutions, non-profit organizations, interest groups, and other associations that act as operators of training and performance centers. Excluded are construction measures for spectator facilities, provision of base areas, public development, site clearance, vehicle parking spaces, and art in architecture. Ongoing application submission allows for flexible project planning throughout the entire year. The focus is on strengthening the national elite sports infrastructure through sustainable investments in state-of-the-art training conditions and maintaining internationally competitive centers. Interested institutions can submit their funding applications to the BMI at any time and thus secure the high-quality basis for future successes in elite sports.
