Description
Since 2000, the Wirtschaftsstiftung Südwest has supported school-based and extracurricular educational projects in the Karlsruhe Technology Region, with a special focus on STEM subjects (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, technology) as well as career orientation and economic literacy. Annually, five projects are awarded €500 each to promote the practical conveyance of economic and scientific-technical content. The support is provided in the form of a grant and is continuously available. The goal is to inspire students’ enthusiasm for economically and technically oriented career fields, strengthen their employability, and provide genuine insights into professional and working environments.
Eligible for funding are general education schools, public and non-profit educational institutions within Baden-Württemberg, specifically in the Karlsruhe Technology Region. Project proposals must be submitted either by teachers or school authorities and demonstrate a verifiably practical connection to economic or STEM topics. A prerequisite for a successful application is that the project is implemented at a school within the Karlsruhe Technology Region and operates with a pronounced practical orientation. Beyond the financial contribution, the initiative serves to network experts, teachers, and students, as well as to strengthen innovation spirit and sustainability in teaching. With its prize money, the Wirtschaftsstiftung Südwest makes a significant contribution to realizing creative school competitions, technology clubs, environmental initiatives, or digital learning spaces, thereby providing valuable impulses for the region’s educational landscape.
