Support for Institutions of Journalism Education

The funding supports the Upper Austrian Journalists Academy as the central institution for initial and continuing education for journalistic professions in the state of Upper Austria. Non-profit educational providers can expand their seminar programs, workshops, and practical phases through a non-repayable grant, thereby strengthening the part-time qualification of journalists in regional media companies. With this sustainable funding approach, the media landscape in Upper Austria is to be enriched through well-founded advanced training offers and the high quality standards in journalism secured.

Eligible for funding are institutions based in Upper Austria whose main task is the part-time initial and continuing education of employees of Upper Austrian media companies and which do not pursue profit orientation. An informal application must be submitted by no later than December 1 of the current year. The application must include a detailed activity report, a preview of the upcoming seminar year, as well as an informal funding request including the funding declaration FinD/E-2. The review is conducted by the Department of Communication and Media in the Office of the Upper Austrian State Government, Directorate Presidency. Through this continuous funding opportunity, academies can plan their programs long-term and prepare journalists in Upper Austria in the best possible way for the challenges of the media world.
