Description

The promotion of individual farm investments in agriculture in Vorarlberg is aimed at private individuals, companies, and cooperatives who independently manage an agricultural and forestry operation. The goal is the sustainable improvement of living, working, animal welfare, production, and hygiene conditions. Funding is provided for structural investments in farm buildings and alpine huts, technical equipment, biomass heating systems, fertilizer collection facilities, as well as the acquisition of new machinery and technical installations for internal and external operations. The grant covers 20% to 50% of eligible costs depending on the type of investment. Additionally, interest subsidies on agricultural investment loans can be granted as a “top-up.” The maximum funding limit is €150,000 per operational labor unit or €300,000 per farm over a funding period of seven years. Applications can be submitted at any time before the start of the investment.

Investments are eligible for funding starting from a minimum volume of €5,000 for special measures and €15,000 for other projects. Excluded are replacement investments, used vehicles, leasing rates, and expenses incurred before the application submission. Requirements include at least 3 hectares of agricultural land or 0.3 operational labor units, sufficient professional qualification, proof of economic viability and financing capability through a business plan, as well as compliance with non-agricultural income limits. For the application, a project description, financing plan, business concept, building plans with approval, proof of income and qualifications, payment receipts, and – in the case of organic subsidies – confirmation from the organic control body must be submitted. Approval is granted by the Office of the Vorarlberg State Government, Department of Agriculture and Rural Areas, funding offices in the districts. Continuous funding opportunities enable rapid implementation of operational modernization and innovation projects.
