Funding of individual projects and annual activities in the field of film festivals and open-air cinemas

The funding is aimed at companies, registered partnerships, sole proprietorships, and natural persons aged 18 and over with their main residence in Vienna who organize film festivals, film series, or open-air cinemas in the city. With a grant program for individual projects and annual activities, the City of Vienna Culture contributes to the revitalization of the urban film culture. Projects that depict local filmmaking in a multifaceted way, engage audiences, and strengthen the exchange between filmmakers, media experts, and film enthusiasts are supported. Continuous support enables organizers to develop long-term concepts and present cultural diversity equally on both large and small screens.

Applications can be submitted at any time and are valid indefinitely. A prerequisite for approval is a registered office or main residence in Vienna as well as the organizational and professional suitability of the applicants. Natural persons receive individual grants of up to a maximum of 10,000 euros, while legal entities and companies can access annual funding of variable amounts. The grant generally covers program, personnel, and material costs and contributes to the qualitative and quantitative development of the film cultural offerings. The open submission deadline ensures flexibility, allowing both established institutions and initiatives in the Viennese film scene to benefit from this funding.
