Description
Funding for Family Recreational Vacations and Family Leisure Activities supports social associations in Lower Saxony in enabling low-income families to access joint recreational and educational offerings. The goal is to promote health, parent and family education, as well as to strengthen cohesion through shared activities in family-friendly facilities. Eligible to apply are member associations of the State Working Group of Independent Welfare Organizations as well as the Working Group of Family Associations in Lower Saxony. The funding targets families with at least one participating child and their associations as primary recipients, whereby the grants may be passed on to the implementing organizations. A residence in Lower Saxony and a family income not exceeding certain limits are prerequisites. Recreational vacations include 7 to 14 overnight stays in non-profit family holiday centers, youth hostels, farms, or campsites within Germany; family leisure activities require at least three participating families and up to seven overnight stays with parent and family education programs.
Eligible costs include accommodation and meals as well as care and educational services. The basic subsidy amounts to up to €15 per overnight stay per participant. Additionally, an extra €10 per overnight stay may be granted for single parents and persons with disabilities, and up to €15 for accommodation in family holiday centers. For family education programs, up to €400 per day is approved for parent and family education and up to €100 per day for educational supervision. Applications can be submitted continuously as long as budget funds are available. Required documents include the completed grant application, an income calculation form, and the valid funding guidelines. Administration is managed by the Lower Saxony State Office for Social Affairs, Youth and Family.
