Description

The Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) supports interdisciplinary junior consortia at several German universities through the funding guideline “Future eHealth”. The goal is the development of innovative in-silico approaches and analytical tools for biomedical research. The initiative targets outstanding postdoctoral researchers from mathematics, computer science, biology, and medicine, who collaboratively implement three to four subprojects at a minimum of two locations. Within 36 months, new computer-assisted methods are to be established to advance insights in prevention, diagnosis, and therapy. Funding is provided as a 100% non-repayable grant for personnel, material and travel expenses, as well as project-related investments, including a 20% flat rate. Project outlines must be submitted online by December 15, 2025.

Only research consortia of public or state-recognized educational institutions in Germany are eligible for funding. Eligible to submit are universities that, together with scientifically qualified postdoctoral researchers, present a coherent concept and a cooperation agreement. Each working group is led by a postdoctoral researcher, so that three to four subproject leaders collaborate interdisciplinarily. A prerequisite is a networked data base as well as methodological integration of STEM and medical disciplines. The submitted outlines must comply with the formal requirements of the DLR Project Management Agency. Selected consortia qualify based on innovation content, translational potential, and collegial structure for a second application stage, in which the detailed project outline is supplemented by a formal funding application.
