Description
Funding for municipal climate protection and climate adaptation projects in Hesse aims to effectively support emission-reducing and climate-resilient initiatives at the municipal level. In cooperation with hessenEnergie and the Economic and Infrastructure Bank of Hesse, six funding options are available: from investment measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, through municipal climate adaptation, to pilot and demonstration projects as well as green measures for private house and courtyard areas. The goal is to assist Hessian municipalities, cities, districts, their associations, and municipal companies in implementing sustainable energy and infrastructure projects. Thus, the program makes a decisive contribution to achieving the state's climate protection targets and promotes the modernization of urban and regional structures with regard to energy efficiency, digitalization, and smart city approaches.
Eligible to apply are all public institutions based in Hesse that intend to implement investment or adaptive projects. The continuously open application process allows for flexible project planning and timely grant approval as a subsidy. Funding requirements include, besides formal residence in Hesse, proof of municipal sponsorship. Processing is carried out by WIBank as the state's central promotional bank, while certain program components must be submitted directly to the responsible ministry.
