The Free State of Thuringia supports artists, cultural and art projects, construction and renovation measures at cultural institutions, media collection expansion in libraries and museums, the equipment of offices of cultural associations, as well as digitization and IT infrastructure measures in order to preserve and improve cultural infrastructure and promote artistic innovation.

Description
The funding program "Promotion of Culture and Art" of the Free State of Thuringia supports artists as well as cultural and art projects through grants for a variety of initiatives. Funded are, in addition to cultural, artistic, and cultural-historical projects, especially construction and renovation measures at cultural institutions, the expansion of media collections in libraries and museums, as well as the equipment of offices of cultural associations. Digitization services and the acquisition of IT infrastructure for the creation of digital reproductions also count as eligible expenses. Eligible to apply are natural persons, non-profit legal entities, municipal cultural institutions, local authorities, and other sponsors of non-commercial cultural projects with a seat or project reference in Thuringia.
Funding prerequisites include demonstrated state interest—such as through supraregional significance, artistic innovation, or cultural participation in rural areas—as well as proof of secured overall financing. Measures with predominantly commercial purposes, carnival projects, city anniversaries, commercial publications, or public art are not eligible for funding. The amount of the grant depends on the project; applications over €50,000 must be submitted by March 31, applications up to €50,000 by October 15 of a given year. In the selection process, supraregional significance, artistic independence, creativity, and the importance for local infrastructure are taken into account to sustainably strengthen Thuringia’s cultural infrastructure.
