Description

The funding supports municipalities, municipal associations, as well as associations and cooperatives established under the Water Rights Act in Burgenland in the initial construction, reinvestment, and modernization of municipal water supply systems. The goal is to increase the supply and operational reliability of hygienically flawless drinking water networks to ensure sustainable and resource-conserving water management. Furthermore, projects for the creation of digital pipeline information systems and participation in drinking water and wastewater benchmarking initiatives are promoted to enhance transparency and optimization potential in municipal urban water management. Applications can be submitted at any time, allowing flexible planning and implementation of infrastructure measures.

The funding is provided in the form of a non-repayable grant with a funding rate of 10% of the eligible investment costs. Eligible expenses include, among others, construction and expansion of water and wastewater facilities, construction of operational buildings for wastewater treatment plants, planning and construction supervision services, inter-municipal cooperation measures, creation of digital pipeline cadastres, benchmarking fees, as well as information and reminder boards. Compliance with the "Guidelines of the State of Burgenland for the Promotion of Municipal Urban Water Management 2017" and water law approval is a prerequisite. Ineligible costs include, among others, interior installations, land acquisition, ongoing operating costs, own contributions, and measures in red hazard zones. Through this targeted funding, technical standards are improved, costs are efficiently distributed, and municipalities – as central actors of local infrastructure – are sustainably strengthened.
