Description

The funding of measures in the field of nature conservation and landscape management in Saarland is a strategic funding instrument aimed at securing and further developing valuable natural and landscape areas. The program supports projects that align with the objectives of the Saarland Nature Conservation Act and are located in both urban and rural areas. With grant financing ranging from 66% to 100% of eligible expenses, it particularly promotes the acquisition of land in protected areas as well as the expansion and maintenance of biotope networks. Public-law institutions, non-profit organizations, as well as cities, municipalities, and other participant communities are thus given the opportunity to actively contribute to the long-term assurance of biodiversity.

Specifically supported are design, protection, maintenance, and development measures that are significant for the preservation and enhancement of the natural environment. Projects that improve the protection status of the area and implement nature conservation-based concepts are considered. The funding program is aimed at organizations, associations, federations, and foundations that make a substantial contribution to the preservation of flora and fauna in Saarland through their initiatives. Financing is provided in the form of a non-repayable grant, awarded through a clearly structured application and evaluation process, which requires independent, professionally reviewed project descriptions, financial plans, and site plans. Under certain conditions, in-kind contributions may also be recognized as eligible for funding—always in compliance with the principles of economy and efficiency.

The continuously offered funding program encourages institutions to initiate innovative and sustainable measures in the field of nature and landscape conservation. Applicants must submit all required documents, such as the completed application form, a detailed project description, and other relevant plans, to demonstrate the technical and financial feasibility of the project. Through a transparent and comprehensible evaluation, which prioritizes aspects such as the protection status of the area and the fulfillment of nature conservation objectives, projects are selected that significantly contribute to preserving and sustainably shaping natural habitats in Saarland. Overall, this funding provides a solid financial foundation to implement forward-looking ecological projects in the interest of sustainable landscape management.
