Description
The Hessian Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy, Transport, Housing and Rural Areas supports the transition of public local transport to locally emission-free drives through an ongoing grant program. Funding is provided for the procurement of electric buses as well as the modernization of existing e-buses (e.g., battery exchange), the acquisition and installation of the necessary charging or refueling infrastructure, the retrofitting of depots and workshops, as well as the training of specialist personnel and the procurement of necessary equipment and tools. Eligible organizations receive a grant of up to 40% of the eligible expenses, with a maximum of €400 per installed kW capacity for charging points and up to €100,000 per site for grid connections.
Applicants are municipal public transport authorities in Hesse – in particular municipalities, districts, and municipal associations – as well as transport associations, transport companies, and other project sponsors. Requirements include the use of the funded electric buses predominantly in Hesse, a binding period of eight years, and total expenditures of at least €100,000. Project commencement may only occur after approval. Non-eligible are vehicles without passenger transport purposes, purely interior fittings or repair measures, and retrofitting of conventional vehicles to electric drives. Applications can be submitted at any time and require, among other documents, the form “Application Electric Buses,” the expenditure and financing plan (form AuF), the SME self-declaration, the General Terms and Conditions (ANBest-P), and data protection notices.
