Description
With the funding program of the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI), public institutions, educational providers, interest groups, and non-profit organizations receive a grant for nationwide projects aimed at the social and societal integration of immigrants and people with a migration background. Initiatives that strengthen intercultural coexistence locally and create participation opportunities for newly arrived immigrants and volunteers in the host society aged 12 and above are supported. Furthermore, the support complements statutory integration services such as integration courses and migration counseling and makes an important contribution to a tolerant, solidaristic coexistence. The focus is on the thematic areas of social affairs, education and training, as well as work & social issues. Additionally, multiplier training sessions to qualify voluntary actors are funded. The maximum funding amount is up to €70,000 per year for a project duration of up to 36 months. A secured financing concept, demonstrated federal interest, and close cooperation with municipalities, migration counseling (MBE), youth migration services (JMD), and other funding initiatives at the municipal, state, or EU level are prerequisites. Integration benefits and individual counseling are not eligible for funding.
The acquisition of funds takes place through an annually announced call for expressions of interest, which is usually published at the end of the first quarter. Applicants align themselves with the current thematic priorities and application guidelines to submit tailored projects. In the transparent selection process, project conception, municipal needs, and sustainability are considered. The program relies on practical project concepts that activate local resources and promote sustainable networks. Through targeted measures, intercultural competencies are strengthened and solidaristic communities are built. Interested actors find in this funding instrument a structured opportunity to shape coexistence in a diverse manner and to secure social cohesion in the long term.
