Description
The statewide grant program in Styria specifically supports measures to secure landslide-prone slopes on agricultural and forestry land. Using technical methods such as deep drainage, support ribs, and other slope stabilization measures, soil erosion is reduced, ensuring the preservation of cultivation areas as well as operational buildings and infrastructure. The funding is aimed at natural and legal persons, cooperatives, interest groups, and other associations based in Styria that operate their business in their own name and on their own account. With a funding rate of up to 15%, both investment costs for structural stabilization measures and expenses for subsurface investigations and project planning by civil engineers are covered. Damages already covered by insurance are not eligible for funding.
A formal application can be submitted at any time and must be filed no later than six months after the occurrence of the damage-causing heavy rainfall events. A prerequisite for this is full compliance with all legal framework conditions (e.g., water, construction, and procurement law) as well as the submission of forms (A10, A14), site plans, and cost estimates. Department 14 "Water Management, Resources and Sustainability" of the Office of the Styrian Provincial Government is responsible for the technical review, funding processing, and construction supervision. A positive funding decision does not establish a legal claim and is subject to the availability of funds. The goal is the sustainable stabilization of slopes, the long-term securing of agricultural land, and protection against future landslides.
