Description
The statewide funding program in Brandenburg supports breeding associations and control organizations as well as companies in the agricultural sector in systematically collecting and evaluating health and robustness data of farm animals. The goal is to optimize breeding measures for dairy cows, beef cows, fattening cattle, fattening pigs, breeding sows, as well as sheep and goats. In addition to standard performance tests, funding is provided for the collection of genotype information and supplementary health monitoring in female cattle. Through financial support with a funding rate of 70% on eligible expenses, the effort for data collection and evaluation can be significantly reduced. The project duration is generally 12 months, starting from January 1 of the following year. Fixed amounts per animal are provided depending on the category: for example, up to €15 per dairy cow per year, plus €12 for genotyping and €5 for health monitoring.
Participation requires proof that the farm and livestock are located in the state of Brandenburg, and an associated membership or contractual agreement between the agricultural enterprise and the breeding organization, whose statutes focus on health and robustness. Applications can be submitted annually by November 30 to the State Office for Rural Development, Agriculture and Land Consolidation. Micro, small, and medium-sized agricultural enterprises benefit as final recipients from discounted services. The funded measures strengthen animal health, improve breeding indicators, and contribute in the long term to the competitiveness of the agricultural sector in Brandenburg.
