Description

As a nationwide available funding instrument, the Federal Ministry of Transport supports non-investive model projects for the implementation of the National Cycling Plan 3.0. The focus is on four action areas – Cycling & Politics, Cycling & Infrastructure, Cycling & People, and Cycling & Economy – and a wide-ranging thematic spectrum from infrastructure and mobility to urban development and urban renewal. Funded are research and development projects, information and communication campaigns, competitions, as well as other innovative, transferable projects. The funding rate is up to 80%, with individual projects receiving up to €30,000 as a fixed amount. Municipalities, companies, non-profit organizations, interest groups, associations, educational institutions, public bodies, and foundations thus receive financial incentives to implement forward-looking measures in cycling traffic.

Eligible to apply are legal entities under public and private law with proven professional qualifications, sufficient capacity to carry out the project, and appropriate creditworthiness. Further requirements include a pronounced federal interest, the impossibility of realization without funding, as well as the absence of insolvency proceedings or a company status according to EU law. Evaluation is based on alignment with the guiding objectives of the NRVP 3.0, transferability to other actors, model character, and contribution to the cycling strategy. Continuous submission of applications is possible; interested parties can obtain information on current deadlines from the Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility. This creates synergies between research, practice, and policy that promote low-emission and sustainable transport development.
