Description
Within the framework of the funding program "Promotion of non-publicly accessible charging infrastructure in the carsharing sector" in North Rhine-Westphalia, companies, public institutions, and non-profit organizations receive financial support for the acquisition and installation of stationary, controllable, and brand-new charging infrastructure. All components are eligible for funding, from cables and power electronics to authentication and payment systems, as well as load and energy management systems. Civil engineering work, including foundations and surface restoration, assembly, commissioning, as well as grid connection and reinforcement, are also eligible expenses. A prerequisite is that the required electricity comes from renewable energy sources or self-generated renewable electricity and that the installation is carried out by a specialist company in accordance with the Charging Station Ordinance. Applications can be submitted electronically via the state funding portal until December 31, 2026. The funding amount is up to 5,000 euros per charging point, with the funding rate ranging between 20% and 40% of eligible costs depending on the size of the company.
The program is specifically aimed at carsharing providers, municipal authorities, as well as clubs and associations that provide charging points exclusively for a defined user segment. The approval process includes submitting a cost estimate, online application with a PIN procedure, proof of a green electricity supply contract or a photovoltaic system, and proof of the executing specialist company. After a positive application review and receipt of the funding approval notice, implementation may begin. Finally, proof of use and payment request must be submitted via the portal. This funding promotes the expansion of electromobility in the carsharing sector and makes an important contribution to climate protection and the sustainable transport transition in NRW.
