Description
The funding program of the Vorarlberg State Government is aimed at public libraries and toy libraries in Vorarlberg that are operated by municipalities, parishes, or non-profit associations. The goal is to ensure comprehensive access to low-threshold offerings of information, education, and socially integrative meeting points. As a grant, the funding is divided into three areas: basic funding for volunteer-provided opening and working hours, earmarked media acquisitions, and project-oriented reading promotion. Applications for media acquisitions and reading promotion can be submitted until March 31 of the following year, while basic funding can be applied for until September 30. The ongoing funding operation enables long-term planning security for the institutions.
Among other things, operating costs, furniture purchases and repairs, other library supplies, events, training and further education, public relations, as well as media acquisitions are funded. A completed application form is a prerequisite; for media funding, registration in the BVÖ database is additionally mandatory. The calculation of the funding is based on a transparent model that takes into account opening and working hours as well as population size. Bonus points are awarded for event culture, cooperations, a balanced media mix, and the use of the services of the State Library Office. Proper use of the funds is as much a condition as compliance with the funding guidelines and the designated purpose binding.
