Description

The Leibniz Institute for Virology (LIV) in Hamburg specifically supports early-career researchers after their doctorate by providing a two-year funding budget for soft skills courses. Participants can use this to attend training in project management, third-party funding acquisition, networking, and other professionally relevant areas. In parallel, the institute supports the organization and invitation of guest speakers within the framework of the weekly institute seminar. This not only offers insights into current research topics in virology but also promotes interdisciplinary exchange as well as the pedagogical skills of postdoctoral researchers.

The funding is aimed at doctoral graduates employed at the LIV and is project-based over 24 months. Public and educational institutions benefit from a straightforward application process without fixed deadlines. All expenses for certified soft skills courses as well as invitation and organizational costs for seminar speakers are eligible for funding. The goal is a sustainable strengthening of professional and social competencies to consolidate and expand the career path within the scientific community.
