Funding of Private Schools

The funding of private schools in Vorarlberg supports educational institutions established under § 7 para. 2 of the Private School Act and not prohibited, through annual grants for ongoing operating costs. This measure is aimed at sponsors and operators of various private school types and seeks to ensure the financial stability and quality of teaching in the long term. The grant provides a fixed contribution towards expenses for personnel, infrastructure, and teaching materials, thereby creating planning security for the entire school year. With a budgeted volume of approximately €0.8 million, the State of Vorarlberg strengthens the diversity of educational offerings and promotes innovative approaches in education and training.

Interested educational institutions can submit an informal application without time limitation starting from January 1, 2020. The only prerequisite is that the operation has not been prohibited and the school complies with the Private School Act. No special application form is required, minimizing bureaucratic effort and ensuring swift processing by the responsible school supervisory authority. Payments are made based on actual operating costs, with the school authority monitoring the use of funds. This direct form of funding strengthens the independence of private schools in Vorarlberg and contributes to sustainably promoting the educational location.
