Funding of Projects (Aid for Self-Help) – MAK Maximilian and Alexander Maria Knauf Foundation for Disadvantaged Children

The MAK Maximilian and Alexander Maria Knauf Foundation for Disadvantaged Children supports both its own and external initiatives in the Greater Munich area based on the principle of "help for self-help." Municipal institutions, non-profit organizations, and educational institutions can submit project proposals at any time and receive grants for the implementation of social, pedagogical, or educational initiatives. The focus is on supporting children and adolescents from disadvantaged backgrounds, particularly those of single parents, through appropriate care, needs-based educational support, and supplementary social guidance. The foundation deliberately concentrates its limited resources on projects that enable independent strengthening of resources and thus increase the long-term independence and participation opportunities of the target groups.

Projects eligible for funding are located in the Greater Munich area, target socially disadvantaged children and adolescents, and pursue a clear concept of promoting self-help. Thematic priorities include early childhood care, general schooling, vocational training and further education, as well as work and social affairs. With continuously open submission deadlines, the foundation offers flexible funding opportunities without fixed deadlines. Applicants must demonstrate how the project builds sustainable structures and empowers participants to take responsibility for themselves. Through this approach, the MAK Foundation contributes to reducing social inequalities and opens up new educational and developmental perspectives for young people.
