Description

The state of Vorarlberg provides public institutions in Vorarlberg with continuously available grant funding for the new construction, expansion, and conversion, as well as the maintenance, planning, and design of bicycle routes for everyday and recreational cycling. Projects are supported with contributions of up to 70% of recognized costs (for state everyday bicycle routes) or 50% (for local main everyday bicycle routes and state recreational bicycle routes) that correspond to the regional networking mandate, improve the quality of bicycle infrastructure, and sustainably increase traffic safety. Eligible applicants are municipalities in Vorarlberg, municipal associations, other municipal cooperations, and municipal real estate companies. Applications can be submitted at any time until the annually available budget is exhausted.

A prerequisite for approval is the categorization of the planned bicycle routes according to the coordinated state bicycle route concept (state everyday bicycle route, state recreational bicycle route, or local main bicycle route), submission prior to the start of the measure, and compliance with the established technical and qualitative standards. Eligible costs include, among others, planning and design costs, bicycle route concepts and studies, external process and project support, construction measures (new construction, expansion, conversion, maintenance), and necessary land acquisitions. Non-eligible costs include ongoing maintenance work, mountain bike routes, detailed access roads, additional costs for design specifications, as well as intellectual and administrative in-house services. The funding application must include a written application with project description, a detailed cost estimate, site plan, standard cross-section, construction schedule (for technical projects), and proof of application for additional funding.
